                                      Consequences

ClassDojo is used as behavior management. Students are able to see their Avatar creature earn green (positive) or red (negative) points as consequences for appropriate or inappropriate choices made during Spanish class. A student may not receive any points during a class period, but will have a variety of opportunities throughout the school year. The points are visual reinforcements for the student to see how their appropriate behavior can add up to earning treats. Red points serve as redirection efforts by the teacher; the student is asked to recognize the inappropriate behavior and is held accountable for his or her positive progress. ClassDojo is also a communication tool between student, teacher, and parent.

Possible rewards:
  • Praise and points to your Class Dojo Avatar; every 5 points earns a treat.
  • "Caught doing good!"/ "Boleto" ticket: a fast track to a treat.
  • Motivational treats: take care of a stuffed animal during class, candy, stickers, pencil, small toys, good note home.
  • N.U.T. Cards: When a student reaches 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35+ Dojo points they may choose a N.U.T. card as a treat.

Warnings:
If a student receives 3 or more negative (red) points due to disruptive or off-task behavior during one class period a Savannah Christian Lower School Resource Teacher Discipline Warning will be sent home for a parent to sign and return. Two such notices within a quarter will result in a "W", 3 = "N", 4 = "U" on your conduct report card and may prevent you from being on Honor Roll. The purposes of the warnings are to help the student get back on the learning track and as a teacher-parent communication intervention.
